The Dinosaur is any of a large group of
extinct REPTILE that dominated the earth for
almost 150 million years. Dinosaurs ranged in
length from the 2ft(60cm) Compsognathus to
nearly 90ft(27m) Diplodocus. The
Brachiosaurus weighed over 75 tonnes. They
are traditionally classified as cold-blooded
reptiles, but recent evidence on posture,
skeleton and eating habits has shown many may
have been warm-blooded. Dinosaurs are thought
to all have been egg-layers. There is no
answer to why the dinosaurs died out. Most
theories postulate that changes in
geography, climate, and the sea level were
responsible. Scientists latest theory is that
an asteriod impact on the Earth may have
caused the changes that led to their
extinction.
